Mrs Sanya Hunt

Greetings from Mrs. Hunt,

Hello, my name is Sanya Hunt, your new Elementary school counsellor. This is my 1st year as a professional school counsellor. I bring over 10 years experience working with children and families in the educational setting.  I am married with two children, one of whom attends DEMS. I love my job and the opportunities I have to work with ALL students, families and teachers each day.

As part of our school counselling program, I will be seeing your child’s class twice a month to teach about topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, handling bullies, healthy lifestyles, personal safety, study skills, and career interest and exploration. Each grade level is introduced  these topics with content that is appropriate to their developmental needs using the Zones of Regulation and Second Step Curriculums. I also provide individual counselling and small group work, as needed to address short term student issues. I will also have “lunch bunch” sessions to reinforce topics and skills taught in the classroom.

If you have specific concerns about your child which may impact their school success, please give me a call to set up an appointment or send me an email. You and your children are my top priority and I want to connect with you in a timely manner.

Another way to stay connected, is to follow the counseling blog where we will have updates on what’s happening with their social emotional learning and upcoming topics for our parent education sessions.
