Once again, DEMS had their Walkathon together with DBGS. Our annual walkathon is designed to teach students about compassion and giving. Students are encouraged to collect pledges as flat donations or ‘per lap’ rates that are donated to charities selected by the school. This year DEMS chose the following:
Personal care items for custodial staff on Dhahran Campus.
Mid-America Transplant Services (in memory of past DEMS Principal Bruce Hudson) https://www.midamericatransplant.org/
MIB Agents (in memory of past DEMS student Ian Vallejo) https://www.mibagents.org/
Spirits were high on Walkathon day, and the pledges flooded in through the following week. There were fun incentives and prizes offered to various tiers of pledge amounts collected- for individuals, classes and houses. This year, BLUE House was victorious in raising the most money, and together, we raised more money than every before from a walkathon! Students and staff are excited and proud to be contributing to meaningful causes and continuing our tradition of having and showing compassion, collaboration, integrity, and determination.
